How to Choose a Gaming PC Power Supply in the UAE
Understand PSU tier lists, efficiency badges, wattage, GPU connectors and SFX case fit before choosing a power supply for your gaming PC.

Choose a gaming power supply by the exact model, the complete system's power requirements, case dimensions and GPU connectors. Wattage and an efficiency badge are useful starting points, but they do not establish the complete quality or suitability of a unit. For a small-form-factor PC, PSU size and cable space can decide the choice before wattage does.
What a PSU tier-list screenshot can tell you
A cropped list can flag questions worth investigating, but it cannot replace the full entry, revision notes, underlying tests and exact model identification. Different wattages or revisions in one family may use different internal designs. Match the complete model number before applying a recommendation.
If a list mentions uncertain internal parts or a disputed certification, check the linked evidence and the certification database. Treat an unattributed screenshot as a starting point for verification rather than proof about every unit with a similar name.
Efficiency certification and quality
The 80 PLUS certification programme measures energy efficiency and provides model-level records. A Gold or Platinum rating describes efficiency under specified tests. It does not alone determine acoustic performance, voltage regulation, transient behaviour or whether the unit has the connector and protections your build needs.
Use exact-model technical reviews, manufacturer documentation and a clear warranty alongside the certification record. Check that the listed certificate belongs to the unit you are buying, including the manufacturer and model identifier.
Match wattage and connectors to the build
Start with the graphics card manufacturer's PSU recommendation and the CPU, drives, fans and other devices in the complete system. Allow appropriate headroom for demanding loads and planned upgrades. A 750W unit may suit many configurations, but it is not a universal recommendation for every modern GPU.
Confirm PCIe or 12V-2x6 connector needs, cable count and clearance at the card. Follow the card and PSU manuals for seating and cable bends. Use only cables specified for the exact PSU; modular connectors can look compatible while having different wiring. Higher wattage does not correct the wrong cable or a poor physical fit.
QuickCart PSU examples to compare
- Cooler Master MWE Gold 750W V3, non-modular ATX 3.1: AED 339.00. Compare when an ATX case has room for fixed cables and the exact unit meets the system requirements.
- Corsair RM750e 750W fully modular PSU: AED 569.00. Compare for cable management, checking the precise revision and included connectors.
- Lian Li SP850 850W fully modular SFX PSU: AED 559.00. A compact-format candidate for a case that explicitly supports its dimensions.

These are candidates for a compatibility review, not a claim that every listed PSU is interchangeable or suitable for any flagship card. Confirm the warranty stated on the individual listing.
SFX, SFX-L and ATX are different fit decisions
Read the case manual for the supported PSU form factor and depth. SFX-L is longer than standard SFX, while an ATX PSU may not fit a small case at all. Extra depth can collide with a radiator, graphics card or cable routing. An adapter bracket does not create extra internal space.
For a quiet SFF build, consider ventilation and fan behaviour as well as advertised power. Read our Ryzen SFF parts guide before selecting the remaining hardware.
Frequently asked questions
Is 80 PLUS Gold enough to decide which PSU to buy?
No. Also assess the exact design, tests, protections, connectors, noise, dimensions and warranty.
Can I reuse modular cables from my old PSU?
Only when the manufacturer explicitly lists compatibility with the exact models. Otherwise use the supplied or specified cables.
Should I replace a working PSU for a new graphics card?
Compare its age, condition, power capacity and connectors with the new build requirements. Send QuickCart the component list or browse current power supplies for a suitable replacement.
