Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 vs LOQ: What Changes for a First Gaming Laptop?
Compare two real RTX 3050 laptop configurations: 8GB versus 16GB RAM, 4GB versus 6GB graphics memory, display refresh rate and the questions to ask before requesting a quote.

An entry-level gaming laptop can be a sensible first PC if you need portability, but two machines labelled “RTX 3050” are not automatically equivalent. We compared the exact QuickCart configurations that shoppers have been asking about. Use the product links to check current sourcing and request a fresh quote; neither price nor availability should be assumed from an article.

Why the memory difference matters
The IdeaPad starts with 8GB. That can be restrictive when a game, Windows, voice chat and a browser are open together. The LOQ's listed 16GB gives more room for that everyday mix. If the IdeaPad is otherwise the better fit, ask us to confirm the exact unit's RAM slots, supported capacity and upgrade cost before you decide; do not assume every configuration can be upgraded in the same way.
Do not judge the GPU by its name alone
The listed LOQ has 6GB of graphics memory while this IdeaPad has 4GB. Extra video memory can help when a game needs larger textures, but actual frame rate also depends on GPU power limit, cooling, the game and its settings. Ask for the full part number and configuration. Neither machine should be promised a particular frame rate in a game without a comparable test of that exact laptop.
What about the screen and storage?
Both are Full HD. The 120Hz and 144Hz labels describe the maximum display refresh rate, not guaranteed game performance. A 512GB SSD is enough to start, but a few large games can fill it quickly. Check the available storage expansion options and budget for an upgrade if you keep many titles installed.
A simple decision rule
- Choose the IdeaPad when the complete quote is meaningfully lower and your games are lighter; include any RAM upgrade in the comparison.
- Choose the LOQ when you want 16GB from the outset, the listed 6GB RTX 3050 and a 144Hz screen.
- If the quotes move close to a newer GPU model, compare those too rather than assuming the older RTX 3050 is automatically the best value. Our HP Victus RTX 5050 and LOQ Essential RTX 5050 pages are useful reference points.
Before you request a quote
Tell us your total budget, two or three games, target resolution, whether Windows must be included, and whether you need an English-Arabic keyboard. We can then confirm the exact unit, warranty, stock and current quote. Browse gaming laptops or send a laptop requirement.
Is a higher refresh rate always better? Only if the laptop can deliver enough frames in the games you play and the screen's other qualities suit you.
Can I use either for school or work? Yes, but compare battery life, weight, ports and warranty alongside gaming performance; a gaming laptop may not be the best everyday travel machine.
