Server Requirements Checklist for UAE Businesses

Describe the workload first

Server sizing starts with what the system must do. List applications, databases, file shares, virtual machines and backup jobs. Record expected concurrent users, peak periods, data growth and any vendor requirements for operating systems, processors or certified hardware.

Capture capacity and performance

Estimate usable storage today and over three to five years. Separate high-performance data from archives and backups. Note memory needs, CPU cores, network throughput and whether graphics acceleration is required. For virtualisation, include the number and size of planned virtual machines rather than only the current physical servers.

Decide the availability target

Clarify how much downtime and data loss the business can tolerate. That decision informs RAID layout, redundant power supplies, hot-spare drives, clustering, backup frequency and disaster-recovery options. High availability is a business requirement with a cost; it should not be assumed or omitted.

Document the site

• Available rack units or tower placement
• Power feeds, socket type and UPS capacity
• Cooling and room temperature
• Internet and local network capacity
• Rack depth, cable management and physical access
• Delivery access and installation restrictions

Include operations and support

Identify who will install, configure, monitor and patch the system. Ask for warranty response terms, replacement-part availability and remote or on-site support options. Plan backups as a separate recovery system rather than another folder on the same server.

The clearer the discovery brief, the more accurate the architecture and quotation. Complete our server requirements form to give the QuickCart Business team the information needed for an initial recommendation.
